Semester plan

Spring ’11 Semester

Concentration 1:   The class I plan on taking is COM 319 Persuasion/Social Influence.  I think it would be useful to learn persuasion skills in most professions and I think it is a skill that would be beneficial to develop more.

Concentration 2: My  Family Studies/Child development concentration requires two more upper division classes.  One of the classes I would like to take to fill that requirement is FAS 431 Parent-Adolescent Relationships.  I think this class would help me expand on some of the information I learned in previous classes.

Core: To fill my core requirement I will take BIS 302 Interdisciplinary Inquiry.

Electives: For my electives I’m not sure what I will take.  I’m considering a minor in nonprofit management and leadership so I hope to find online classes to take from that program.  My goal is to work in a nonprofit organization with children.   Even if I don’t minor in nonprofit I plan to take some of the courses they offer as electives because they would be useful.

Fall ‘11

Concentration 2: I plan on fulfilling my last family studies/child development concentration requirement by taking a special topic class FAS 498 Deviant Behavior, if it is available.  If it is not available I could also take FAS 435 Advanced Marriage/family relationships.

Core: For my core requirements I will take BIS 401 Applied Interdisciplinary Studies.

Electives: I want to take some nonprofit management classes during this semester NLM 300 Fund Raising and Resource Development.   I would also like to take another history course as an elective because I enjoy history.

Spring ‘12

Core: For my core requirement I plan on taking BIS 412 Senior Seminar.

I will graduate in May of 2012 with a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies.
