Concentration 1: Communication
COM 100 Intro to Human Communication
This class was an introduction to key communication concepts. I have attached a link to an article about peer pressure at work. This is a topic we studied in this class and we read this article to help guide our discussion.
COM 225 Public Speaking
Public Speaking was an essential class to take. Having efficient public speaking skills is very important for many careers.
COM 312 Conflict and Negotiation
This class equipped me with the skills to deal effectively with conflict in both personal and business settings.
COM 316 Gender communication
Gender communication provides an understanding of how gender influences communication. I have attached a powerpoint lesson from chapter 1. This gives an idea of some of the content that was learned in this class.
THP 311 Improvisation with Youth
This class focused solely on working with children in a classroom setting. This class was hands on experience teaching and leading lessons for children. I learned how to prepare lessons using the Arizona Standards and practiced implementing those lessons with students. I have attached a lesson that I created in this class which demostrates my ability to write and create lessons.
Concentration 2: Family Studies/Child Development
CDE 232 Human Development
I learned about how children develop physically, mentally, and emotionally. It was very interesting because I also worked at a daycare while I was taking this class so it actually helped me in my job.
FAS 370 Family and Cultural Diversity
This course was informative about how different cultures view family differently. It emphasized how to be sensitive to different cultures.
SOC 315 Courtship and Marriage
Courtship and Marriage gave a basic understanding of the interworking of marriage both in American culture and foreign cultures.
